Harper's Wish by Krista Ames - Review and Giveaway

Not only do I get to participate in the blog tour for Harper's Wish, but I also got to review it! Keep reading below to find out what I thought of this holiday novella. And don't forget to enter the giveaway at the end!

Christmas is supposed to be a joyous time of year, but for Harper Donaldson it’s just another day. Orphaned at an early age, she doesn’t have a single good memory of Christmas.

But, when a Santa’s Mailbox mysteriously appears in the lobby of the post office where she works as postmistress, Harper wonders what it could hurt to send her own letter to Santa.

Could he bring her the family she’d always wanted?

You can add Harper's Wish to your Goodreads List and it's

I've even got an EXCERPT for you!

“Hey there.

I just wanted to make sure you had everything you needed.”
“Holy crap! You scared me.” She stepped back with a hand over her heart and tried to catch her breath.
Fin came inside in all his shirtless cowboy glory and closed the door behind him. “Dang, I’m sorry. I seem to have a habit of doing that.” Warm palms wrapped around her bare arms.
His touch took away the chill, but created a whole different set of emotions instead.
She inhaled the scent of his aftershave and glanced up at him, noticing the ends of his hair, the color of burnished oak, were still damp. A vivid mental picture of him naked in the shower had her heart racing again.
Fin’s eyes darkened and, grew hungry, as if she were his next meal. Her gaze traveled to his lips, lush and begging to be kissed. The magnetic energy crackled between them, and her body swayed toward Fin’s bare chest. Her palms burned hot at the contact with his flesh. His lips crushed hers, setting her nerve endings on fire.
She returned his kiss with eagerness. Fin’s hands roamed over her back, then lower while she moved her fingers over his muscles with a feather-light touch and into his hair. Harper couldn’t fight the attraction a second longer. She sighed as his fingers fisted into the t-shirt she wore, edging it higher to reveal her smooth stomach.
“I’m sorry for being so forward, but I’ve wanted to do this since the moment I saw you.”
She expelled a soft moan of pleasure to encourage him.
Fin had the material around her shoulders when a knock sounded at the door—just before it started to push open.
“Hey, are you two oka—”

~~ REVIEW ~~

As you know, I'm a big fan of stories about potential lovers being snowed in together. It's a fabulous premise, if I do say so myself. So, when I got the chance to review Harper's Wish, I jumped at it. This story is wonderfully sweet with a dash of a spicy heroine and a hero with just a bit of salty cowboy to him. Throw in a little Christmas magic and you've got the perfect novella to heat up a cold winter's night.

I really liked Harper and her no-nonsense attitude. She's doing her best to build a life for herself in the aftermath of a rather heartbreaking childhood. As for Fin, he's adorable and committed to his family (his brother and nieces to be exact) which is a killer combination, in my opinion.

Fans of Contemporary Romance with a guaranteed spectacularly happy ending will adore this novella.

Giveaway and Author Spotlight on Michelle Ziegler

Today, as a part of the Winter's Sweet Kiss Anthology tour, I am excitedly highlighting Michelle Ziegler, author of One in a Million Snowflakes.

Angela is in love with someone she can’t have. Stranded in the bitter cold after another failed date, Angela is running out of time.  Her company Christmas party is around the corner, and the idea of going with her boss’ nephew is less then appealing. Escaping the cold , Angela jumps into her familiar getaway car to find Nick, her life-long crush, in the driver’s seat.  Strategic planning on his part has them finally giving into years of denied feelings.  Unfortunately, reality always surfaces.  Angela pushes Nick away in fear of losing his sister, her best friend. Breaking Nick’s heart was never part of her plan, and thankfully Nick isn’t going to let her.  His headstrong nature comes out and changes the game despite Angela’s attempts to stay away from him. Angela needs to decide if her best friend is more important than Nick, or if she should just give up and resign herself to a life with someone else

Lucky you, I've got a sweet little excerpt from One in a Million Snowflakes!

Angela broke off as she heard a chuckle. A male chuckle. Had she gotten in the wrong car? She released the seatbelt she’d finally managed to grasp, which hit the car door with a loud thwack, and shot a glance at the driver’s seat.
Suddenly, she wasn’t cold anymore.
“Oh my God! When did you get back?” She flung her arms around his neck. Rebecca’s older brother was a Marine who had been on deployment. “I can’t believe you’re here! Becks didn’t tell me. You didn’t even send an email.” Angela was a little hurt.
“You’re choking me.”
“Oh. Sorry. I’m excited to see you.” Angela let go, happy but embarrassed. She’d spent years squelching her feelings for Nick. She was obviously out of practice.

Michelle’s imagination started spilling out onto paper the second she could scribble.  Her drawing never improved, but her love affair with words continued and evolved as she became infatuated with one story after another.  If life could be written, Michelle would write everyone’s ending as a happily ever after.
Michelle grew up in Chicago and later moved to Colorado. Her husband still makes fun of her Midwest accent. By day she is an engineer, wife, and mother to two kids and two dogs. Her sanity survives on the pages she writes, even if her toddler is trying to drive her to the edge one temper tantrum at a time.

Each story is just the right length for an evening's read, snuggle in next to the fire with some cocoa and some fuzzy socks.

When Wayne Edwards moves to town, Lillian Douglas experiences stirrings she thought were long dead. Guilt ridden over betraying her deceased husband and the feelings Wayne inspires, Lillian reluctantly lets him in. Secrets of the past – an old promise emerges, but will it threaten their forever?

MELT  By Shaya Roy
Newlyweds in an arranged marriage, Naina and Dev go to the mountains of Shimla, India in search of snow. Unfortunately, they find fifteen inches more than they expected.
Being snowed in with her husband is not necessarily a bad thing. It gives Naina an excellent excuse to snuggle up to her deep, quiet man, but every time Dev spurns her, a little more of her heart drips away. Melting the ice around her husband’s heart before the snow outside does might take more pride than Naina’s ready to surrender.

Angela is in love with someone she can never have--her best friend, Rebecca’s older brother.

Stranded in the bitter cold after a disastrous blind date with yet another company Christmas party looming, a standing offer from the boss’ nephew gets a little more appealing. Desperation. Not a good sign. Surely when Rebecca rescues her from the blinding snow, she can also convince Angela to just go to the party alone. She can always count on her best friend.

That is, as long as she never finds out about Angela’s secret crush.

Stella’s got everything she needs in life: a great job, a beautiful house, and her independence. But on last minute trip to the local Christmas tree lot she finds something, or rather someone, she desperately wants - Grayson. An emergency trip to Target, an unexpected wreath, and a little Christmas magic make the season much brighter.

SANTA BEBE  By Lily Carlyle

Disillusioned by men and her belief that they see her only as an object, Bebe is determined to find a man with money. Her geeky, but unfailingly kind, next-door neighbor James tries to convince her of the possibility of real love, even as she reveals to him the troubled childhood that made her so cynical about relationships. When her mother dashes her hopes for a perfect Christmas, Bebe finds herself turning to James once again, and in the process, learning a lot about herself and the promise their relationship holds.

Shelf Live by Stephanie Lawton: Review and Giveaway

Title: Shelf Life
Author: Stephanie Lawton
Genre: Contemporary New Adult
Publication date: December 3, 2013

*Mature situations and sexual content - recommended for ages 17+*

It’s impossible to focus on college biology when your family believes doomsday is imminent and the government is out to get you.

All Pete Wilson’s ever wanted is to become a veterinarian, but those dreams are going up in flames. Commuting to an urban college and helping his parents with their apocalyptic prepper crap is more than he can handle.

Worse, Pete’s asshole neighbor is stirring up trouble, his family’s stockpile has been destroyed and farm animals are turning up dead.

Lindsey Linger is the tomboy sister of his best friend. Now a sexy spitfire, she and Pete are liable to set the barn ablaze as their romance finally heats up. But she’s hiding a terrible secret, and rural life isn’t all bonfires and hayloft romps. That becomes clear one icy winter night when the survival of everyone Pete loves hangs in the balance.

Can Pete be the hero they need, or will this be the end of the world as he knows it?

I was already a fan of Lawton’s previous works, but I’m truly enamored with her most recent New Adult novel. Shelf Life is a painfully beautiful coming of age story that hits hard and peels back the layers of what it means to be a “grown up”.

Pete is easy to love; a guy who’s honest and true, even if he’s a little naive and a lot stubborn.  The way Lawton handles his evolution from high school boy to college man is seamless. This is something the author has shown a talent for easing her readers through character growth in her previous work and I was pleased to see her deft handling of the transition in this tale as well.

I enjoyed the way Lawton walked us through the unusual life of Doomsday Preppers in our modern world. Her descriptions of Pete’s life on the farm are rich and winsome. Their sharp contrast to his experiences at the local community college help paint an even more vivid picture of the backbreaking yet beautiful life with his parents.

His relationship with Lindsey is as confusing and frustrating and scintillating as relationships truly are at the tender age of eighteen. And though their love isn’t the main storyline in this book, I’m hoping to see more of them together in the next book in the series.

The end is rough, and I’m not being exaggerative. It’s a fast-paced whirlwind of dramatic  events that leave you breathless. Though there is one piece of the end I have sworn not to forgive (I will not spoiler it, just, *sob*), I eagerly await the continuation of Pete’s story in the next installment.

You can grab a copy in paperback or Kindle Ebook today!

Join us all day December 3rd on Facebook as we chat with Stephanie, as she celebrates Shelf Life's launch day with giveaways, excerpts, special content, free downloads, & more!

About Stephanie

Always a misfit, Stephanie Lawton writes twisted romance that tugs the heart strings then punches you in the gut.

She has a tendency to psychoanalyze people, which comes in handy when creating character profiles. She has a fascination with teacher-student relationships, bullies, psychics, doomsday preppers and larger-than-life characters.

Making readers squirm is her greatest pleasure.

Proceed with caution.

Cover Reveal: Seizing Fate

Hello Friends!

As I'm coming down off the high of the Melted Tears release, I am returning the karmic favor and making sure I help my fellow romance authors get the word out about their books! Check out this intriguing cover for Seizing Fate (Predetermined #2) by Heather Van Fleet.

And you thought Emmy’s life was a hot mess before…
Jack’s gone off to Arizona with his brother, but for how long? Emmy doesn’t have a clue. In his place, though, is Zachary. The whiny, miserable, alpha wolf–boy who is more than ready to take on the duty of her mate/boyfriend — if she’d let him, that is. But the last thing Emmy wants is to deal with a boy who believes that the world should fall solely at his feet whenever he demands it.
But hey, at least her step–douche is gone, and her life is back to an almost normal sense, right?
Wrong again, Emmy’s life will never again be normal…
With her Uncle Prick in town and her best friend acting as secretive as ever, Emmy finds new challenges to overcome — challenges that no seventeen–year–old girl should ever have to deal with. For one thing, what is up with her dream–liaison status anyway? What does it mean, really? And why does her little brother have to go through it too? And then there’s her mom. The lady is acting a tad bit odd, to put it nicely. After all these years, she finally wants to step up and be a parental figure? Heck no! Emmy’s definitely not copacetic with that idea.
But with the bad, there’s got to be some good out there for her somewhere, right?
Add in the wolves, witches, drama, and lots of kisses and you get Emmy the Extraordinaire, the girl with strawberry–colored hair, and a chip on her shoulder. She’s finally on her way to finding out what her life and her future both have in store for her, even if the road to getting there is nowhere near as easy as she hoped it would be. But Emmy is tough, and more than ready to take on life with her bare hands.
It’s just too bad she’s madly, desperately, insanely in love with a boy who insists on making her life both a miserable hell and utter perfection at the same time.

And Van Fleet has even given you a juicy excerpt from her upcoming release:
Pressure, fire, wetness, tongues — single words were all I could think as our mouths battled. God, I’d never been kissed like this before. Ever, and if we stopped, I’d die a happy woman from his lips touching mine alone. He tugged his hand into the back of my hair, pulling my chin upwards, yanking me towards him. I clawed at his shirt, ready to rip it from his massive body. I pulled at his jacket first, lowering it over his shoulders until it fell to the floor. The buttons jingled against the tile, scattering over our feet. Damn, if he didn’t care about his signature black coat falling apart, then I had to wonder what else I could get away with.

Go ahead and add Seizing Fate to your Goodreads so you don't forget how much you want to read it!

You can visit Heather Van Fleet on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, and her Website to learn more about the Predetermined Series.

Young Adult paranormal and contemporary author Heather Van Fleet is an Illinois born native, raised in a town that borders both Iowa and Illinois. She’s a wife to her hubby (and high school sweet heart) Chris, as well as a mom to her three little girls, Kelsey, Emma and Bella. When she’s not obsessing over her fictional book characters, cooking dinner, or running around chasing her crazy kiddos, you can usually find her with her head stuck in her Kindle, drinking White Chocolate Mochas like they were water.

Summer's End

I don't usually post my poetry here (or anywhere for that matter) but I decided to share a sliver of this part of me with you, my dear readers.

Summer's End

A sip of sangria
Close your eyes
Listen to your heartbeat
Thump thump thump

The sun heats your legs
Shield your face
Watch the minute hand
Tick tick tick

Your tongue feels thick
Guard your words
Feel the painful truth
Tap tap tap

The air stands still
Measure time
Kiss away the loss
Tsk tsk tsk

Fuck You, Domain Name Thief

Just shoot me.

Here's the friendly version of this post:

Hey friends and fans! Just a little update to let you know the website address has changed but everything else is still the same. No sweat! See ya at the cover reveal on Wednesday!

Okay, and now here is the real post:

Son of a cock sucking monkey! Turns out, my dumb ass has some crazy old email attached to my domain provider account, so I wasn't receiving the notices that my domain registration was ABOUT TO EXPIRE. Therefore, my old web address is now owned by a Japanese spa (or so they claim). Obviously I'm getting reamed by one of those assholes who goes around snapping up domains as they expire and then charges people an arm and a leg to get them back (brilliant, really, I need to start doing it myself). Well, FUCK THAT GUY. So, if you look carefully, you'll see the new website address is

and that's what it will stay. Trust me, I will never let this happen again. What a colossal energy-sicking-stress-enducing day this was; complete with self loathing for even letting this happen.

Luckily, as the sign says above, I'm an Internet Expert (who barely understands the internet) so I was able to remedy the majority of problems today.

Now, I'm off to make new book marks (FML).

And yes, the Melted Tears (Book 2 in the Outlier Chronicles)  cover reveal is WEDNESDAY.

Au Revoire, my little darlings. (Yes, I'm delirious. Don't pick on me.)

Where have you BEEN?

I know, I am seriously fail at blogging. The worst part of it it, I'm not even ashamed. You see, the reality is, I am a mom. And being a mom is my full-time, all day, every day, number one job. After that, I am also a freelance writer, which means I have magazine articles and blog posts as The Bombshell Mommy. This takea up the majority of my mental space (well, what's left after parenting three wild banshees). Additionally, I've recently begun volunteering my skills with a wonderful non-profit group called LEWA, a land conservancy in Africa, and I am currently writing a Huffington Post article for them.

I added their donation button over there, to the right. Do you see it? Ya, that's where you donate to make sure the elephants and rhinos don't go extinct.

But fun things are just around the corner, my friends. In July, the cover for Melted Tears (Book 2 of The Outlier Chronicles) will be revealed and shortly after that, on August 4th, you can get your very own copy! I'm sure we'll have lots of fun stuff like give aways and such going on, so keep your eyes and ears open.

Last, but not least, I've been sorting out a new story in my head. I'm excited to head down this path and I ask that you all cross your fingers for me. I have been playing with this book for 2 years, and NOW is the right time to embark on a new journey.

Okay, my friends, I'm off to pick up my littlest from her last day of preschool for the year. Let's do this summer thing RIGHT!

Review: Leap of Faith by R. Brennan **Mature Content Warning**

Leap of Faith by R. Brennan

New submissive, Faith Daniels is completely infatuated with her amazing Dominant, Richard Halstead, so when he sends her a summons via text message a full day before they had plans to meet, she can barely contain her excitement.

But, Richard didn’t just invite her over for a play date. Not this time. He has a proposition for Faith. One that could change the rest of her life.

Let me just start by saying, this short story is a five-alarm fire heat level. If you're looking for sweet and tame romance, just move right along because R. Brennan has brought some serious game with this hot little number. Leap of Faith is part of the "Romance on the Go" line; quick reads that get you where you wanna go, if you know what I mean and I think that you do. Having met Faith and Richard in their previous adventure as a part of the Evernight Publishing Vanilla-Free Christmas Anthology, I was eager to join them for another adventure.

This is a very hot, very naughty BDSM story. Lots of playtime punctuated by touches of tenderness and caring make for one fiery couple. Richard is the firm but caring Dom who saw what Faith had inside of her from the moment they met. He knows what she needs and he knows how to give it to her. Faith is a brave and daring woman, slinking into her new role as a submissive with unabashed passion. Their time together is not wasted on pleasantries and fake smiles; they get right down to the nitty gritty and make the most of their time together.

Leap of Faith is the perfect book read while taking a nice long bath or maybe just before your man gets home. There is no avoiding the effect this book will have on you. This is the kind of erotic romance that's all in, no-hold-barred, dirty fun. I hope there is more to come from these two in the future, as I see lots of series potential.

Leap of Faith is available at these fine ebook retailers  Evernight Publishing  |  All Romance eBooks  |  Bookstrand  |  Amazon

**************DIRTY X-RATED EXCERPT **YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED************

Strong hands grabbed hold of her kneecaps, startling her. Richard jerked her legs apart until she knelt in an exposed V position. His voice arrived close to her ear, sending a chill through her. “When I ask you to kneel for me, this is how you are to do it. I want you to display your desire. Show your need with the pride of a submissive. Do you understand me, Faith?”

Her body ached for his touch. The brush of his hand, the caress of a breast. Anything. She’d even welcome the slap of his paddle if it meant he’d touch her again. “Yes, Sir.” Her voice was little more than a hoarse whisper.

“That’s my girl.” He slid a finger along her wet opening. Half a breath later, she heard his lips smack together, as if he’d just finished eating barbeque ribs. “Sweet nectar.” His hand returned to probe her slit. A finger entered her.

A gasp of pleasure tore from Faith’s throat, contorting into a whimper when he withdrew from her quivering pussy.

He traced a fingertip over her mouth, coating her lips with the evidence of her arousal.
The carnal scent of her juices surrounded her, pushing Faith toward the mindless black abyss of wanton need. Her nails dug into the flesh of her forearms as she willed herself to resist reaching for him again.

Two fingers forced their way into her mouth. “Taste your desire.”

Faith sucked them clean, her tongue swirling sensually around each offered digit.

Richard abruptly withdrew his hand and moved away.

Solitude rushed in to fill the space he left behind, leaving Faith breathless.

He signaled his return a few pounding heartbeats later with the ‘snap’ of his leash on her collar. “Come, pet,” he commanded.
